 Not at the moment.

4. Can you speak about the current projects you are working on? 

VSC Newsletter, which helps people stay informed about the VSC services as well as does a deeper dive into some of the topics we plan to discuss in our workshops/job clubs.

14. What does impact mean to you? 

Listening without judgment

 5. Why do you think this is important in the Canadian context?  

Not specifically important in a “Canadian context”.

15. Which of your previous work/volunteer experiences have had the most impact on your  work today? 

Working at the BC Crisis Centre

6. What does equal opportunity look like in youth workforce development? 

Equal access to education.

16. What previous work/volunteer experience have had the greatest impact on your work  here with CCYP Success Team? 

Doing my practicum at Covenant House in Vancouver.

7. What made you want to get involved in youth workforce development/employment?

I deeply care about at-risk youth and youth with disabilities/barriers to success, as I once was one of those you, and with help, am now able and dedicated to serving youth going through similar situations.

17. Recognizing the importance of building a community network, how has mentorship  supported you throughout your own professional development thus far?  

By listening in a non-judgmental way and empathizing with where I was at and what I have been through.

8. What do you hope to bring to the youth workforce development/employment sector? How do you hope to move the needle in your work? 

More than a decade worth of real-life experience struggling to find and sustain employment due to multiple barriers/challenges to employment as well as disabilities in my twenties.

9. Given the impact of the pandemic on the job market, what are some helpful techniques  you can share with youth who are looking for work?

19. What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? 

“The past has no power over the present moment.” ― Eckhart Tolle

10. What are some of the major differences between coaching and mentoring in a virtual  setting versus in-person? 

People look more two dimensional.

20. Can you share three fun facts about yourself?

  • I have been getting an I.V. every month since I was 12 years old.

  • I used to be a Dj and through my own parties.

  • I live at wholefoods (joke).

11. What are some of the implications (positive or negative) you think this will have on youth  workforce development/employment moving forward? 

 More anxiety and fear about job security.

21. Can you share a goal you have for 2021? 

 Improve my coaching skills one day at a time!
